It is the intention of NGIS to lay stress on the holistic development of the student. A whole range of varied activities are integrated into the normal school day, whilst others may take place after school and at weekends. Extra curricular activities such as painting, pottery, board games, chess, first aid, foreign language, Koran stories, science, cookery, indoor games, etc. take place in the school day in the Primary Section.

Various clubs such as photography, charity, vocation, chess, self-defence, basketball, aerobics, calligraphy, embroidery, yearbook, newsletter, etc. take place after school in the primary and Secondary Sections, as do many Inter-School and Inter-House sporting activities. An active and varied extra curricular program of trips, visits and social events is organized throughout the year for all students.

All students have ample opportunity of applying and enjoying music throughout their school years, by way of theoretical knowledge and practice, choral performances, hands-on use of instruments, etc. as well as gathering an appreciation of the diverse international musical flavours throughout the school life.

The central purpose of drama in schools is the development of children's ability to experience and understand the world from many different points of view. Children use their own experience, knowledge and feelings to present other perspectives or viewpoints. Drama helps children develop greater confidence in their abilities to use language: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Health Education includes topics as safety, hygiene, first aid, nutrition and substance misuse. These topics are taught in many areas of the curriculum as well as in the guidance programme.
